The Wii U is a step above the classic Wii, yet for many of its games it still relies on the Wii’s classic two-part motion controller system. The motion controller set consists of a remote controller (which serves as a main controller and can be used by itself) and an ergonomic “nunchuk” controller that attaches to the main remote controller via its integrated cable. This two-part system isn’t needed for every Wii U game; some games are played using the screen-integrated gamepad or the main remote controller. However, gamers that want to play games that require the two-controller setup – think Wii Boxing – will need them. If they want to play with two or more friends, buying additional motion controllers is a must.
