A corn peeler or stripper cuts away the kernels from the cob. This allows you to put kernels in stews, vegetable dishes, and salads. With a corn peeler you can use fresh corn rather than having to buy canned or frozen corn. A corn peeler can look like a carrot peeler with a wide head that peels the kernels off. Another type has a cylindrical shape that fits the entire circumference of the cob. It acts like an apple corer in that you push it down over the cob to strip off the kernels. Though these may do the job faster than the other corn peeler design, your cob needs to fit the circumference of the tool closely. Some, however, are designed to be adjustable.
