Ceiling fan light kits are for those who own a ceiling fan and wish to add a lighting element to it. Some light kits are fairly universal, installing easily and working with a wide range of fans. Others are more limited, sometimes only working with fans made by the same company. Light kits are available in three different flavors: branched or stemmed (3-4 lighting arms, pointing either up or down), bowl (single fixture attaching to or just under the fan), and uplight (light is atop the fan fixture, illuminating the ceiling). Kits have pull chains, wall controls, or remotes, depending on the product. Try and verify how difficult the installation process is going to be before purchase.
