You should restring your tennis racquet based on the number of times you play per week. For example, if you play twice per week, restringing should occur twice per year (and so on). For serious players, having your own tennis stringing machine is an option. A smaller tabletop machine is affordable and suitable for home use. A standalone tennis stringing machine is more of an investment and usually best left to professional tennis shops. There are three tension options: drop weight, manual (spring, crank, or lockout), and electronic. Basic machines are usually drop weights. A manual machine is affordable and offers higher tension accuracy. Electronic models work via computer and are accurate but pricey.
