Corn brooms are made from stiff natural fibers called broomcorn. These fibers are often from a variety of sorghum or other stiff grass, which provide a solid, yet slightly flexible surface for gathering up particles on a floor. Corn brooms are among the most popular style of broom because they are durable, reliable, and get the job done well. Width of the brooms vary generally between 10” to 12”. Handle length can also be based on personal preference, but generally extends between 40” to 60” past the end of the bristles. These bound natural fibers are sometimes handmade. Corn brooms are not designed to perform regularly on wet surfaces.
