Shuffleboard has been a favorite pastime for locals at neighborhood bars for decades, because it really doesn’t require a lot of rules, skill, or concentration … unless you want to take it that seriously. If you love this tabletop version of curling, you should get a shuffleboard for your home. Most commonly made of wood, they can be as small as a tabletop board or as large as a freestanding table that will easily take up a full wall of a large room. Their smooth butcher block tops are coated with polyurethane and/or sprinkled with fine, sand-like wax particles to make the weighted pucks glide easily over the surface. Full-sized tables can cost thousands of dollars, but mid-level ones are about $500. Table-top versions are only about $50.
