Pull-ups offer a plethora of muscular benefits. The main muscles used are the latissimus dorsi in the back, the long head of the triceps in the arms, the pectoralis major in the shoulder, and the coracobrachialis in the upper part of the arm. A pull-up bar has no moving parts and is an inexpensive piece of exercise equipment. Some can fit in or over a doorway, and some can be used as portable, freestanding equipment for other exercises. Others attach to a door or wall using screw-in mounts. As a bonus, pull-up bars can be used for chin-ups, which are great for the biceps.
