Best Prime Day Deals

We've reviewed all the best deals from Prime Day 2017 to bring you a sneak peek at 2018 deals that are worth waiting for:

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Every year Amazon celebrates its Amazon Prime members by having Prime Day, an exclusive shopping event when thousands of products are discounted. There is a combination of all-day offers and lightening deals that are only available for a limited amount of time.

Sales are available to just Prime members, so if you don't already have a membership, we suggest getting one before the event. Depending on your membership type, Prime costs between $50 and $119 a year. In addition to Prime Day, members get free two-day shipping and access to all of Amazon's offerings, such as Amazon Music and Amazon Video.

This year Prime Day will be 36 hours long – which means more great deals for you! Starting at 12pm PST on July 16 and running through the end of JUly 17, be sure to keep tabs on all the sales happening. BestReviews will be updating this page as more information becomes available. We will also be tracking what goes on sale and whether or not it's a good enough deal to make a purchase.

What to look for on Amazon Prime Day

As with any sale, there are good deals and bad deals. We've done our research based on past Prime days to give you some helpful tips and tricks for making the most of one of the biggest shopping days of the year. Some of the deals will happen throughout the year, while other Prime Day deals might be the lowest price you can get on that item – sometimes even better than Black Friday.

Best bets

Leading up to Prime Day, you can bank on there being deals on Amazon subscription services. For example, in 2017 there were discounts on Amazon's wedding and baby registries.

When the actual day comes, check for the lowest prices on Amazon gadgets — like the Echo or Echo Dot. Since Amazon acquired Ring last year, we expect those products will also get worthwhile discounts.

You can also most likely count on deals on Instant Pots and Roombas, along with a whole slew of home products. If you've been hunting for a good deal for either of those brands, we suggest waiting until Prime Day to purchase.

Dos and Don'ts

  • Make a list using Amazon's Wish List feature ahead of time of the products you're interested in and keep track of the lowest prices you see. That way you know exactly what you're looking for on Prime Day and whether or not the "sales" are the actual lowest prices available.
  • Check Amazon multiple times a day. There will be lightening sales all day long. Most sales begin at midnight EST, or 9 p.m. PST.
  • Be on the lookout for exclusive deals by using your Amazon Alexa devices.
  • Add the Amazon Assistant plug-in if you use Chrome as your browser — handy for a slew of reasons, from deal alerts to order tracking and instant price comparisons when you're on another retailer's website.

  • Wait to order too long after you see a good deal. It might be gone if you wait even a few minutes.
  • Go it alone, assuming every deal is a great one. Check here throughout Prime Day to see what deals the BestReviews team can't pass up.
  • Wait until Prime Day to check deals. Last year we saw products go on sale as early as two weeks ahead of time.
