No exceptions, the crib is where your baby is safe. The crib is also where you want your baby to feel comfortable and be happy. The best way to achieve that is with age-appropriate crib toys. Your primary concerns always need to revolve around safety. Does it fasten securely to the crib with no chance of it falling in? Are there any sharp edges? Are there any small parts or lengths of string or fabric that are hazardous? Toys with bold patterns of contrasting colors and music work for the first 3 months. Baby-safe mirrors and tactile baby-safe toys that can be reached for or swatted at are good up until about 6 months. After that, interactive baby-safe toys are best.
