Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker review

Is the Keurig Office Pro worth buying?

Keurig coffee machines make brewing your favorite hot drinks easier, but they're not always the most durable or convenient for heavy use. The Keurig Office Pro is designed as a commercial coffee maker for the workplace. However, it's also useful for households that consume a lot of coffee or tea.

If you're considering this coffee maker, you might be wondering whether it can stand up to the volume of use you require from it. Keurig claims it makes hot drinks in under a minute and that you can make up to 18 cups of coffee before refilling the reservoir.

The BestReviews Testing Lab wanted to verify these claims, so they took the Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker for a spin to see how it performed in real-world conditions.

Testing the Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker

It's all very well testing out a product once or twice, but that doesn't tell anyone how it really performs at home. The BestReviews Testing Lab trials products in a home environment on a day-to-day basis. This lets them pick up any quirks and discover where it really stands out.

For this article, the testing lab paid specific attention to factors such as brew time, ease of cleaning, assembly and the touchscreen controls.

What is the Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker?

The Keurig Office Pro is a commercial-grade coffee maker. That doesn't mean it's the sort of machine that baristas use to make drinks in a coffee shop. Rather, it's made to withstand heavy use in an area like the employee lounge in a workplace such as an office or a store.

It has a 90-ounce reservoir, so it can make more drinks than standard pod coffee makers before it needs refilling. It's also more durably made than home appliances since it might need to make 50-plus drinks in a day, rather than the smaller number that an average household makes in a day.

How to use the Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker

When you receive the Office Pro, it's extremely easy to set up. You just fill up the reservoir, plug it into the power outlet and turn it on using a switch on the back of the appliance. It takes around 5 minutes for the water in the reservoir to heat, at which point you can start making your drinks.

Using the touchscreen, you select your desired brew size, then you lift the handle on the top of the machine to insert your K-cup. With K-cup in place, hit the "brew" button and the machine does the rest of the work for you.

Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker benefits

Touchscreen controls

The touchscreen display is extremely useful and easy to navigate. It gives users clear prompts and shows full-color images, so using it is a breeze. It makes it simple to adjust the settings and it gives the coffee maker a high-end feel. This is an unusual feature in other pod coffee brewers, but you can find similar controls in some other commercial coffee makers

Large water reservoir

The water reservoir holds 90 ounces, which is significantly more than other Keurig coffee makers and pod coffee makers. However, you'll find other commercial coffee makers with similar-size or larger reservoirs. It's enough to make nine 10-ounce coffees, which is the largest size offered by this machine. This reduces the number of times you need to refill it through the day if your household drinks a lot of coffee and makes it easier to brew drinks for a group.

Durable

This machine feels extremely sturdy and well-made. It's certainly more rugged than cheaper pod coffee makers meant for household use. If household coffee machines just don't stand up to the amount you use them, the Office Pro is an option to consider.

Attractive design

This coffee maker looks good, so you won't be embarrassed to have it sitting out on your countertop. It comes in a silver finish that blends with stainless steel appliances.

Four brew sizes

You can make four brew sizes with this coffee maker: 4, 6, 8 and 10 ounces. This gives you plenty of options to work with, whether you like a short, strong coffee or something larger to sip on. This is similar to many other pod coffee makers on the market, although some can brew larger sizes and a handful only offer one or two choices of brew size.

Brews coffee quickly

Keurig claims the Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker makes hot drinks in under a minute and this machine delivers. Once the water has heated up, brewing coffee, tea and other beverages is extremely speedy.

Adjustable temperature controls

The default brew temperature is 193 degrees, which most users find perfect for coffee and tea. However, if you're more picky about exactly how you brew your hot beverages, you can adjust the brew temperature using the touchscreen control panel. This is an unusual feature for pod coffee brewers.

Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker drawbacks

Tricky to clean

Every three to six months, you'll need to descale the Keurig Office Pro. Unfortunately, this is a fairly in-depth process. It requires around 10 assembly tools and takes a little while to disassemble, clean and reassemble the machine. It's a longer and more tedious process than cleaning basic household Keurig brewers.

Largest brew size could be bigger

The biggest coffee you can brew with this machine is 10 ounces, while many other Keurigs brew cup sizes of 12 ounces. Of course, you can get around this by brewing multiple coffees in the same mug. For instance, an 8-ounce and a 4-ounce brew for a 12-ounce coffee or two 8-ounce brews for a large 16-ounce cup of joe. However, this means you'll use two pods.

Can't be plumbed into a water line

You can't plumb this machine into a water line, which is a feature offered by many other commercial coffee makers. As such, it needs manual refilling fairly regularly when a lot of people are using it.

Should you get the Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker?

If you're looking for a coffee maker with a large reservoir, the Keurig K155 Office Pro Commercial Coffee Maker is a great choice. As promised by Keurig, it brews coffee in less than a minute. However, the promise that it makes 18 cups of coffee before it needs refilling is based on 5-ounce cups, which is smaller than most people drink. That said, it's still a solid choice, whether for the office or for coffee-loving households.
