The Wii U GamePad and Remote Controllers have an interesting relationship when it comes to charging. When charging the motion controllers using the USB charging cable plugged into the Wii U, the console must be turned on. This automatically powers up the GamePad – whose battery drains while the motion controllers charge. Luckily, the market has responded with an array of chargers that resolve this issue. The quality varies, but in general, Wii U gamers should look for key features in these chargers like fast-charging capability, an AC adapter to allow for charging via an electrical outlet, battery packs and a spare USB cable. Consider the various designs of chargers, too. Some only charge the motion controllers, while others provide a charging station for the controllers and the GamePad.
