LEGO’s Technic line is aimed at more experienced builders over the age of 10, although many younger kids enjoy the challenge of building with these huge, intricately detailed sets. The pieces can number into the thousands, and it’s no surprise to hear of a set taking several days of concentrated effort to complete. Some sets include a motor and wiring that is ready to connect up to the set, while others aren’t motorized at all. All of the sets, however, feature intricate details – many of the vehicle sets have visible “pistons” that move within the replica motors, or gear shifters that really work. Assembled Technic sets typically do double duty as display pieces and play pieces – helping to further justify their rather high sticker price.
