This roomy and practical backpack works well for a multi-day hike.

Pros

Larger than the Monpelier pack at 65 liters. We like that this pack has a lot of pockets including a zipper that allows you to access the middle of the pack without opening the top. Includes Trekking pole attachment points, compression straps and a sleeping bag compartment.

Cons

Does not include a built-in rain fly.

While this pack may not be big enough to carry all the gear you need for longer treks, it offers many of the features you would want at a good price.

Pros

Includes compression straps on the sides to keep your gear stable. This pack has a lot of extra storage pockets for organization of your gear. Has a hip belt to displace the load off your shoulders. Has trekking straps. Includes a place to connect your hydration bladder.

Cons

While this is made of a lightweight water resistant material, it does not have a built in rain flap.

Bottom Line

A great pack for day hikes, hunting and weekend camping. Has a tough build.

Pros

Sized for day hikes. The bright colors make it good for hunting. This hydration compatible backpack has a connection for a water bladder built in to the design. It also includes loops to hang your trekking poles when not in use.

Cons

On the small side, so it won't work for hikers who need a spacious pack.

Bottom Line

While this pack won't work for everyone, it's a practical size for day trips, light travelers, and kids.

Pros

At 35 liters, this pack is perfect for day trips or for hikers who don't need to carry a lot of gear on the trails. Lightweight and durable. Also a good choice for youngsters who are new to hiking, or who need a rugged pack for toting school items.

Cons

If you need a large pack, or are heading on a days-long adventure, this pack won't work for you.

Bottom Line

Choose this pack if you prefer a smaller yet spacious design, as it has useful features and the durability of larger options.

Pros

Super lightweight yet has a 40-liter capacity. Size is perfect for day trips, smaller individuals, and teens. Great for hiking in warm weather, thanks to the breathable construction, mesh straps, and hydration bladder hook up. Material is durable and will stand up to heavy duty use.

Cons

Not the best choice for long trips or hikers who need to carry a large amount of gear.
