The bObsweep lineup of versatile automatic vacuum cleaners includes compact units and models designed specifically for homes with pets. The brand’s vacuums are capable of mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and sterilizing floors to keep your surfaces pristine between thorough housecleaning jobs. The large dustbin reduces the need for frequent emptying and allows for a genuinely hands-free cleaning experience. And the vacuums are fitted with plenty of sensors to keep the units from falling or getting stuck.

These robotic vacuums are ideal for homeowners who don’t have much time to do housework or anyone too busy to sweep up dust every day. Not interested in performing routine chores like vacuuming? A bObsweep robotic vacuum can reduce your cleaning workload. Check out our buying guide and recommendations for more information.

Standard bObsweep vacuums are equipped with an extra-large dust cup that holds up to one liter of dust and debris.

About bObsweep vacuums

Made by a Canadian company, bObsweep vacuums offer a range of robot vacuum types and sizes from mini versions designed for occasional cleanups in small spaces to standard robot vacs with extra-large dust cups.

Specs

bObsweep vacuums are round, like most other robotic models. On the front is a bumper that’s designed to soften any impact with furniture and redirect the vacuum elsewhere. Sensors are scattered throughout the unit as well.

Brushes

bObsweep vacuums clean your floors with a combination of brushes. A large roller brush underneath the vacuum helps to move dust from floors to dust cup. The side brushes direct dust inward.

Thanks to the extra-large roller brush, bObsweep vacuums are particularly adept at picking up pet hair and large types of debris, such as spilled cereal or cat litter, on hardwood floors. On carpeting, the units roll along most comfortably on low-pile carpets.

Mop

bObsweep vacuums also have a mop pad attachment for dry or damp mopping, but there’s no water reservoir on these vacuums.

Remote control

bObsweep vacuums feature an LED interface on the top with a bit of a learning curve but are easy to direct with the included remote control.

Dust cup

bObsweep Bob vacuums are known for their extra-large dust cups. A generously sized dust cup translates into a hands-free cleaning process. There’s no need to empty the bin during a cleaning session, so you don’t have to babysit your robotic vacuum. However, a bigger dustbin requires a larger casing, so many bObsweep units are slightly taller than other vacuum brands, meaning they’re unable to fit under some furniture. Many customers find the large dustbin to be a worthwhile tradeoff.

Maintenance

The filters in a bObsweep should be replaced regularly, and eventually the unit’s battery will also need replacing.

Noise

The noise level of a bObsweep vacuum is comparable to that of other robot vacuums. At around 67 decibels, you likely won’t find it quiet enough to run at nighttime, but the vacuum isn’t a nuisance during the day.

bObsweep robotic vacuum features

Blindfold stickers

Note that bObsweep vacuums have trouble recognizing dark flooring, such as dark rugs or carpeting. These stickers block the sensors so that the vacuum can clean dark surfaces that it would otherwise ignore. But be careful. The sensors allow the vacuums to recognize stains, stairs, and a change in surface type, so the vacuum can’t sense that it’s about to fall down stairs when these stickers are in use.

Runtime

bObsweep units have an average runtime of 60 to 70 minutes. They’re also capable of returning to their charging station before the battery runs out.

Charge time

Once returned back to its station, a bObsweep vacuum takes about four hours to recharge.

Scheduling

The majority of bObsweep vacuums offer users the option to schedule cleaning times. You can program a different cleaning schedule for different days of the week, a feature that isn’t common in other robot vacuums.

Cleaning modes

Almost all bObsweep vacuums are capable of vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping. Users can also enable a UV light setting, intended to sanitize and disinfect surfaces as the vacuum moves around your home.

Barriers

Barriers allow users to block off portions of a room so that the vacuum avoids the area, but not all bObsweep vacuums are packaged with blOck or blOck Plus barriers. The barriers must be purchased separately for some models.

"You’ll likely need to rewet the mop pad during your bObsweep robotic vacuum’s cleaning cycle to ensure your floors are adequately cleaned. "

bObsweep robot vacuum prices

Inexpensive

bObsweep robot vacuum prices start at $399. The least expensive model is the Junior, a compact vacuum with a standard dust cup (1,100 mL) but without many of the features of other bObSweep models.

Mid-range

Next up, the Bob lineup of robotic vacuums ranges from $599 to $669 and includes a Standard model, PetHair units, and a Pro unit with a simple, sleek design.

Expensive

The bObi lineup includes a PetHair unit and a Classic unit. Prices range from $749 to $849. These sleeker-looking models have a touchscreen interface and mini mop attachments, but the dust cups are significantly smaller than those in other bObsweep vacuums (350 mL). However, the smaller dust cup allows for a lighter, more compact unit overall.

Tips

  • Charge it. Completely charge your robotic vacuum before sending it off on its cleaning adventure.
  • Clear the path. During its first cleaning job, keep an eye on your vacuum to scope out trouble spots that may cause a problem for your robot. Keep wires and cables off the floor to prevent your robotic vacuum from getting tangled.
  • Block it off. Use bObsweep blOck Plus barriers to keep your vacuum away from areas where it may get stuck or tangled in wires.
  • Take the quiz. If you’re still unsure of which model to purchase, bObsweep has a quick and helpful quiz on its site to help customers choose the right vacuum for their needs. If you have multiple stories in your home, you might want to consider purchasing two bObsweep robotic vacuums.
  • Take care of the dust cup. When emptying the dust cup, do so carefully to avoid releasing allergens back into the air. Wash your bObsweep’s dust cup regularly to prevent allergen and bacterial buildup.

FAQ

Q. My pets shed. Is a bObsweep vacuum the right choice for my home?

A. Absolutely! bObsweep features two vacuum models specifically designed for homes with pets that shed. The multiple brushes and strong suction power are capable of picking up plenty of stray hairs. Your pet might be a little wary of its new robot friend at first, though!

Q. My home has carpeting, can I use a bObsweep vacuum?

A. Yes, though it’s important to note that many robotic vacuums, bObsweep models included, have trouble navigating on high-pile carpeting. However, bObsweep vacuums are adept at transitioning from one surface to another.

Q. Do I still need to vacuum if I run a robotic vacuum every day?

A. A robotic vacuum is a great little helper that cleans up debris, dust, and pet hair. But even if you run it every day, you’ll likely still find it necessary to do a thorough vacuuming at least once a week. Using a robotic vacuum keeps your floors cleaner in between big vacuuming jobs, and your weekly vacuuming chore will be much less strenuous.

Q. Do all the bObsweep vacuums cover the same area?

A. Yes. Whether you have a spacious or compact living space, each bObsweep unit is capable of cleaning 1,000 square feet of space on a single charge.
