If you love The Body Shop, bad news for you: The U.K.-based chain — whose sustainable, ethical products once were a staple at malls across the country — is filing for bankruptcy and has shut all its stores in the U.S. And as well as announcing that its U.S. subsidiary had "ceased operations," it's also liquidating 33 of its 105 Canadian franchises, and "online sales via Canada’s ecommerce store will stop."

The Body Shop was founded in 1976 by human rights activist and environmentalist Anita Roddick and quickly became known for its natural, sustainable, ethical and cruelty-free cosmetics.
