Tiered serving trays consist of multiple serving platters, stacked at varying heights. By stacking the platters, you can save space on a serving table versus laying platters on the table separately. It also provides a nicely organized way to serve complementary foods, such as nuts, fruit, crackers, and cheese that go well together. You’ll see tiered trays used at parties, weddings, self-serve buffets, and cookouts. A well-designed unit will have plenty of space between the platters, so people can easily reach the items they want without touching other items. Frames should consist of sturdy materials, so the platters won’t wobble. Trays should consist of food-safe materials and be easy to clean after the party. Many multi-tier serving trays will pop apart, making all of the pieces easy to store after use. If you want to serve any foods with a liquid or messy component, look for trays with an edge to keep it from spilling off the tray.
