Nespresso’s OriginalLine coffee capsules are a revelation: They pack the perfect amount of ground coffee for a classic espresso – and only espresso – are compact and stylish, and because they’re recyclable aluminum, are more environmentally friendly than other single-serving brands. The coffee is probably fresher than the stuff at your local shop, too: the excess space in the capsule is filled with an inert gas to slow down oxidation. First rolled out to European customers in 1986, a devoted cult was built up around this single-serve machine even before George Clooney began repping the brand. And once boutique coffee sellers began producing pods specifically for Nespresso’s machines, even coffee elites couldn’t turn their noses up at pod coffee anymore. Nespresso has 2 types of machines: OriginalLine and VertuoLine. Knowing the difference is important. OriginalLine models including the Pixie, CitiZ, Inissia, and Lattissima use the OriginalLine coffee pods. The VertuoLine model uses a different coffee pod design and is incompatible with the OriginalLine pods.
