Dog training collars are specialized collars made for use in obedience class and training. With this style of collar, the dog owner can pull on the leash to deliver corrections. As you pull on the leash, the collar will tighten. This tightening is uncomfortable for the dog, causing it to stop the behavior. Slip-style training collars only tighten as the owner pulls on the leash. Prong-style collars have blunt prongs. As the owner pulls on the leash, the collar tightens and these prongs become uncomfortable for the dog. Most training collars are not made for constant use. For safety reasons, do not leave a dog unsupervised when wearing a training collar.
