BedJet and other interesting ways to keep your bed cool

Consistently getting a good night’s rest is crucial for your health. While having a cozy mattress is important for quality sleep, some people overlook the importance of body and room temperature.

It can be difficult to get quality sleep if your body temperature is too high, but there are ways to keep your bed cool that can improve your overall sleep quality. BedJet and a few other manufacturers offer several products that can help you feel comfortable all night.

What can I do to keep my bed cool?

Cooling pads

BedJets products and other cooling sheets are the best way to keep your bed cool at night. Most BedJet systems offer both cooling and heating effects, making them ideal for those who live somewhere where the climate fluctuates year-round. A cooling pad is terrific if you’re unable to control your bedroom’s temperature because it only cools your mattress. The best ones offer dual-zone heating, meaning you can independently cool one side of the bed.

Linen type

Sheets and blankets that are 100% cotton will help you stay cool at night more than blends or synthetic materials. Lightweight comforters and wool-filled bedding are also excellent ways to regulate your body’s temperature. Wool is breathable and can help wick away moisture and sweat, making it the best fabric for anyone who tends to sweat a lot at night.

Fans

Sleeping with a fan running all night isn’t the healthiest thing, but for those sweltering summer nights, it can be helpful to have on at least until you fall asleep. However, the great thing about most standing fans is that you can connect them to an external fan and program them to shut off after a few hours. Also, if you have a ceiling fan in your bedroom, you can use it to cool down before falling asleep.

Shut off electronics

It’s widely recognized that sleeping with the TV on can disrupt your sleep, but it can also make your bedroom hotter. All electronics generate heat when they’re running, and although it may appear to be minimal, it can make a big difference to shut off your TV or computer at bedtime. However, if you insist on falling asleep with your electronics running, cracking a window open can cool down your room, as it facilitates improved airflow.

Avoid eating close to bedtime

After you eat, your body is in a metabolic stage as it digests food. The metabolic stage can last for a few hours after a meal and increase your body temperature by a few degrees. Also, your body isn’t in its most relaxed state when it’s actively digesting a meal you just ate. This means that even if you manage to doze off, it won’t be the best sleep in terms of quality.

Stay hydrated

Most people are aware of the importance of staying hydrated when it comes to overall health, but it’s also crucial for staying cool at night. Staying hydrated keeps your core body temperature at a normal level, so if you haven’t had enough water during the day, you might feel hotter when it’s bedtime. However, you don’t want to drink too much water right before bed, so it’s best to ensure that you’ve had several glasses at least one to two hours prior.
